Who can apply for BAUNYÖS Foreign Students Selection Exam?

1. Foreign students/graduates
2. Turkish citizens by birth right who got legal permission from The Ministry of Internal Affairs to leave Turkish Citizenship and their children who are not of full age and recorded in the Citizenship Secession can use their rights if they document that they have proper paperwork so as to comply with the Turkish Citizenship Law (Turkish Citizenship Law Number 5901 article 7 dictates that (1) Child who was born as part of a parent marriage is counted as Turkish citizen.) This can help candidates that are going to apply for acceptance quota when Turkish Citizenship Examinations are being conducted.
3. Those who earned citizenship later and became Turkish citizens/Dual Citizens in the same status.
4. (a)Among students of Turkish citizenship who started studying abroad before 01.02.2013, those who completed the last three years of high school education in a foreign country other than KKTC (Northern Cyprus Turkish Republic); including those who completed their high school education in a Turkish school under (T.R.) Ministry of Education abroad apart from KKTC
   (b) Among students of Turkish citizenship who started studying abroad after 01.02.2013, those who completed their whole high school education a foreign country other than KKTC; including those who completed their whole high school education in a Turkish school under (T.R.) Ministry of Education abroad apart from KKTC
5. Northern Cyprus Turkish Republic Citizens and Residents and those who completed high school education in Northern Cyprus Turkish Republic and have GCE AL exam results will have their applications admitted. Also, those who registered for Colleges and high schools in other countries can apply if they had education there and gained a GCE AL score.

 

 

Can I benefit from Foreign Student Admission Quotas without taking the BAÜN YÖS Exam?

 

Yes. You can benefit from the Foreign Student Admission Quotas without taking BAUNYOS. For this, you must have taken one of the National and International exams in the Annex-1 Table of the Balıkesir University Foreign Students Admission Directive, which you can access at http://yos.balikesir.edu.tr/, and have received a valid grade.

 

How many points do I need to get from other YÖS exams or peer exams?

 

Valid exam and score equivalents are given in the Annex-1 Table of the Balıkesir University Foreign Student Admission Directive.

How many options can I choose if I have a valid grade?

You can choose 5 options when you have a valid grade.

 

What should I pay attention to when making a choice?

 

Preferences are taken online through the Student Information system. The necessary links are only active at the time of preference and are published on our website. Candidates' information must be correct/complete, the responsibility of incorrect or incomplete information is entirely upon the candidate. The applications of the candidates who apply with missing/wrong information are rejected. Even if the right of settlement is granted, the records are not made or are deleted.

 

If I am not placed/enrolled to any department, can I benefit from additional placements?

Yes, if you are not placed/enrolled to any department in the first placement phase, you can benefit from additional placements according to the renewed quotas. Balıkesir University has the right to fill or not to fill the quotas, to carry out or not to carry out additional placements. It is useful to follow the web page for current dates.

What are the required documents for enrolment?

I have dual citizenship or I have graduated from a Turkish high school. Do I have to take the Turkish Language Competency exam?

Everyone has to take the Turkish Language Competency exam benefiting from Foreign Students Selection program. TÖMER (Turkish Language Education Centre) is organizing Turkish Language Competency Exam every year.

Is my registration going to be erased if I can't succeed in Turkish Language Competency exam?

No. The registration of the students who fail Turkish Language Competency exam is not erased. The students whose Turkish language level is determined starts their education according to the table below and they attend TÖMER language courses to improve their Turkish language level.

 

Level of Turkish Language Competency	Grading scale	Description
C1	70-100	Level of Turkish is sufficient. He/she can start education.
B2	60-69	Level of Turkish language can be improved in a short while. He/she can start education but he/she has to improve the level of Turkish language up to C1 level before graduation.
B1	50-59	He/she can start education but he/she has to improve the level of Turkish language up to C1 level before graduation.
A2	40-49	Level of Turkish language is insufficient. These students will be regarded as they have permission not to attend the courses at the departments for up to one year. At the end of one year, these students should have improved their Turkish Language competency levels up to C1 by attending TÖMER language courses.

Does Balıkesir University have accommodation and scholarship opportunities for especially Foreign Students.

Unfortunately Balıkesir University does not have a special scholarship and accommodation opportunity for Foreign Students.

Do I have to attend the courses in the departments after registration?

Yes. The students benefiting from BAUNYÖS quotas have the same responsibilities and rights as the other students. On this account, the foreign students benefiting from BAUNYÖS have to attend the courses.
